This past weekend we were constantly fed the vile words of Presidential Candidate Obama's personal pastor. We saw a huge congregation applauding him. The words I heard pierced my heart and my head, and even my soul. To learn one of the biggest black churches in America listens to language that should never be heard, even on the streets of our most vile citizens, makes me fearful of the future of civilization. Evidently this goes on all over the United States in black churches. I believe this is definitely something to be 'up in arms' about. I would like to ask Mr. Wright where he thinks his congregation will be if God does decide to 'damn' America.
God IS Love; NOT HATE! America is built on His guidance and blessing. How did we get so far into the vile muck of this hatred?
America's government has, since the civil war began, done everything possible to give blacks equal opportunity. Most all thinking Americans in the 1800's felt that slavery in any form was a spiritual blight on our country. Christian white men and women all over America prayed for the deliverance. Many white men lost their lives fighting to free the slaves. And these blacks still want to make this a black/white division!
Following the end of the war they were given tools to get them started on the road to freedom. This started with forty acres and a mule. At that time, many white men would have loved to have forty acres of their own. Throughout the 50's and 60's white farm families worked as hard as any slave ever worked and were glad to be able to do it. I was there. We chopped and picked cotton all day, milked cows, raised almost everything we ate, etc. I did not go through the Great Depression, but my grandparents did, and we were still coming out of it.
Many wise ex-'slaves' had taken that 'forty-acres and a mule' program and raised strong, proud families, and when I was growing up in the 50's we all happily worked side by side. However, many more thought since the war had favored their side, they should be privileged to move into places of government and be above white men. It was a long, slow process which included things like passing laws to allow black schools built (then abandonded when their education was deemed of a lower standard than white schools, and intergration became the system); They have the right to live where ever they pleased, the right to sit in theatres, buses, white churches, etc.
Those were long hard times for both blacks and whites. All of this supported by the government. Many financial programs were set up exclusively for blacks. Just in the last decade we have gone through the government give-away programs aimed at helping blacks to advance through college education, job training, etc. The "out of control" Welfare programs through the 1980's and 90's created a society of welfare moms who had more and more children in order to draw more and more welfare. These children hardly ever had a father figure or anyone else to teach them right from wrong. They grew up in this society and have now come of age. A great majority of them have no work ethic, no sense of right and wrong and still live in squallor or on the streets in gangs and terrorist groups.
It appears to me the churches spouting the likes of Mr. Wrights sermons are the 'religious' side of these welfare children. If the talents and activities of these street people could be used for LOVE instead of HATE there is no telling what our troubled black communities could do. That seems to me to be what Mr. Wright should be preaching in his church, not the hate and venom of his 'sermons' we heard this past week.
I saw presidents thought the Kennedy/Clinton years trying to pay blacks to 'play nice.'
When President Bush came into office blacks were accepted for their merit, not coddled by a false charity program that only kept them in their eroded communities. President Bush did not TALK about it, he DID SOMETHING about it and began treating all blacks as Americans equal to all the opportunities America has to offer. Any black person in America has the same opportunity as any other ethnic group, and a great number have taken advantage of this and any one who wishes can go anywhere, live anywhere, and do anything they can afford. Yet there are still so many who only want to spew hate and whine. This is what I see in Mr. Wright's message.
The average white working man throughout the 70's-90's paid VERY high taxes to subsidize the government welfare programs and special education opportunities for blacks to attend colleges, even when their own children could not afford to go to college. Are these American-hating blacks even aware of this? Also, after 'graduating' from college many were given management jobs they were not prepared for so that companies could maintain a government 'quota.' The work would still have to be done by the people (black and white) who had actually learned what to do. Additional employees had to be hired to take up the slack. I know this happened. I was there!
I have many friends who are black who have applied themselves as anyone has to to get where they are today. They feel the same way about work ethic. However, there are so many out there who still think America owes them anything they want, because their great-great grandfather was a slave. This kind of mentality could be the downfall of America! God help us!
